TRAVIS N. KIMMEY, Attorney

Travis N. Kimmey has practiced law since 2015. His practice focuses on Estate Planning and Real Estate, ensuring clients avoid the very public Probate process, providing guidance on the best way to title assets for both Probate avoidance and asset protection and working with clients in Real Estate law – drafting, negotiating and reviewing Real Estate Contracts, Joint Venture Agreements, Shareholder and Operating Agreements and small business set-up matters. Familiar with JUPITER LAW CENTER as opposing counsel on a contested Probate action several years ago, Travis liked the cordiality he experienced both during and after its resolution, when Principal Attorney ADAM S. GUMSON invited him out for a drink to celebrate the end of the case.

From Hendersonville, North Carolina, Travis attended the University of North Carolina graduating with a Bachelor of Arts, double majoring in History and Political Science. Following college, he obtained his North Carolina Life, Health and Variable Annuity and Medicare Supplement/Long Term Care licenses, working with Mutual of Omaha advising senior citizens on insurance plans supplementing Medicare.

After moving to Florida, Travis obtained his Series 7 License and worked in the financial services industry with a small boutique securities firm, then joined Metlife Insurance Company where he was educated by top industry professionals regarding life insurance, deferred compensation planning, retirement planning, disability insurance and employee benefits. Travis thereafter obtained his law degree from the University of Florida, Levin College of Law, then attended the University of Florida Graduate Tax Program (the #1 public graduate level tax program in the country) which prepared him for the complex tax concerns confronting individuals and business owners. He is an active member of both the Florida Bar (Real Property Section) and Georgia Bar and is a member of the Palm Beach County Bar Association.

Travis’s commitment to effective Estate Planning stems from a past experience. A successful doctor was in the process of a Divorce and advised to update his Estate Planning documents to reflect the imminent change to his marital status and to protect the children of his first marriage.  The doctor agreed, but postponed the preparation to take a trip, intending to address the paperwork on his return home.  Unfortunately, while traveling, the doctor was in a fatal car accident and, because his existing documents had not been revised prior to the trip, his Estate was left entirely to his present wife, and his adult children received nothing. Travis is an adamant proponent for proper and regular Estate Planning reviews with clients because of this experience.

Residing in Jupiter, Florida, Travis takes advantage of the local natural surroundings.  An avid fisherman, having grown up fishing in the “pond” at his parents’ house, the area provides Travis with a treasure trove of fishing spots to feed his ardor.  When not practicing law or on the water trying to reel in the next “big one”, Travis enjoys playing chess, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, doing financial market research and watching college basketball.
